Home Services marketing & lead generation

Home services marketing that builds an asset, not another ad bill.

We build the complete growth engine for home service companies: SEO, Google Local Services Ads, PPC, a conversion-built website, reviews, and speed-to-lead follow-up. We run it, prove it, and hand you the keys by month 6. No more renting shared leads.

★★★★★ 4.8 rating on Google

A home service company sells capacity. Everything we build exists to keep it full.

Every home service company runs the same math: a fixed number of trucks, a board that has to fill by seven, and demand that never sits still. Home services marketing decides whether tomorrow's slots hold real work or the same lead four competitors already bought.

We build the engine that fills the board: found first when something breaks, booked before the homeowner calls the next name, and back again next season. You own it. Run project work instead? Start at contractor marketing.

Founder, Contractor Fast Lane

In 2015 I started Four28 Marketing with one goal: give local businesses an unfair advantage in their market.

Eleven years and 250+ businesses later, one pattern kept jumping out. Home services was the one place I could run the same playbook and watch it actually work. Not a slide in a quarterly review, real jobs on a real calendar. I’d rather move the needle for a small business than a Fortune 500 any day.

So we took everything we had built over a decade and pointed all of it at one thing.

Why home services companies stay stuck

You stay busy. So why does growth feel stuck?

Every one of these is a leak in how work reaches you, not a flaw in how you do it. Leaks can be plugged.

Feast-or-famine demand

Peak season buries you, the slow months bleed you. Without a system producing work year round, the profit you bank in the rush leaks out in the quiet.

Outspent by franchises and PE rollups

Consolidators run national ad budgets in your zip codes. You will not outspend them, but you can outrank and outconvert them where the jobs are actually won.

Five vendors, none accountable

A website firm, an SEO shop, an ads guy, a reviews tool, a CRM nobody configured. Each bills monthly, none of them talk, and nobody owns the number that matters: booked jobs.

Renting visibility you never own

Retainers and lead fees buy you a spot in someone else's asset. Stop paying and the rankings, the leads, and the pipeline vanish overnight.

Real reviews

Businesses that stopped chasing
and started choosing jobs.

The same engine has scaled 250+ local service businesses across 25 industries, and home services is the only category we serve. Every review below is a real owner. See the full case studies on our results page.

“I've worked with plenty of agencies that promise the world and deliver a folder full of vanity metrics. Contractor Fast Lane is different. They feel like an extension of our team and take the time to understand our industry instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all template. Since partnering with them we have seen a significant increase in qualified leads and a real boost in ROI, and our cost per acquisition has dropped.”

I was with a different company for TWELVE years whom I trusted, only to find out he had not been performing yet was charging us anyway. We didn't have our log-ins, never got reports, and had no idea what we were missing.. until my wife found these guys. Daniel and the team have made my business shine. They are a God send.

My husband and I run a local business, and when it came time to grow we knew we needed experts. Contractor Fast Lane came highly recommended from a friend who raved about them. They are crazy good at taking complicated, nerdy stuff and making it make sense, and they were always communicating so I never once wondered what was going on. Their SEO work for our market has been a game changer, and we have seen a tangible increase in our lead volume.

It was clear they had done extensive research on our industry before we ever sat down. We spoke to other agencies, but there was a distinct difference. What really stood out was their proven track record getting clients top rankings on Google. We needed a site built the right way, optimized and built to convert, and that is exactly what they delivered. Honestly, it has been one of the best investments we have made for our business.

The home services lead trap

Stop renting home services leads.
Own the system that makes them.

Retainers and lead fees are rent, and rent stops working the day you stop paying. Owned home services marketing is an asset that compounds and stays on your books.

Renting leads

Pay forever. Own nothing.

Rented visibility resets to zero the day the invoices stop, no matter how many years you paid.

Owning the engine

Build once. Compound for years.

An owned engine compounds: your cost per booked job falls every quarter, and the website itself is fully yours by month 6.

What home service demand costs in 2026

Published figures for what it costs to get the phone to ring, and what happens to that money afterwards. Your trade and your metro will move all of them. The pattern underneath does not move.

Google search ads$91What the average home services search lead costs, at $7.85 a click and a 7.33% conversion rate. More than nine clicks in ten never leave a name.
Local Services Ads$53Average across a month of tracked Local Services Ads spend by 888 home service companies. You pay per lead here, not per click, so the click waste goes away.
Leads that get booked43.9%The share of those paid leads that turned into a booked job. The rest is money already spent on a homeowner who never reached your board.
Cost per paying customer$233What a Local Services Ads lead really costs once booking and closing are counted, against an average ticket of $1,826.
Calls nobody answers27%Roughly one call in four into a home services business is never picked up. That one is not a demand problem, and no ad budget fixes it.
Now read it as a service business. Every number above is the price of one visit, bought once and gone. A home service company does not make its money on the first visit. It makes it on the plan, the replacement five years later, and the neighbor who calls because your truck was already on the street. What we build puts the money into the things that produce those: rankings, reviews, a customer list and a booking system that stay in your name. And the website itself is fully yours at month 6.

What actually keeps a service board full

The board fills or it does not. Everything below decides which.

What fills a board is not a mystery, and it is not what wins a bid. Who gets found at 9pm. Who answers. What the call turns out to be worth. Whether that customer comes back. And who holds the list at the end of it.

1Built around the board, not the budget

You sell capacity, and a slot nobody filled at 2pm is gone for good. We build against what your dispatch board and your techs can absorb, so demand lands where you have trucks, hours and drive time to cover it.

2The platforms keep the customer, not you

Angi, Thumbtack, HomeAdvisor and Networx rent you a service request and keep the homeowner. When that same house needs work again, the platform sells the visit to somebody else, and you pay a second time for a customer you already served.

3The leak between ringing and booked

Roughly a quarter of calls into home service companies are never answered, and published benchmarks put the booking rate on paid leads under half. Track every call, catch the after-hours ones, and you need fewer leads to fill the week.

4What a booked call is actually worth

Cost per lead is the wrong number to run on. Sixty dollars attached to a $200 repair loses money. The same sixty attached to a replacement pays for the week. We build for the mix of work you want, then measure revenue per booked call.

5The weeks the phone does not ring

In a slow stretch there is no demand to buy. The auction has less to sell and the lead sellers have less to send. What carries those weeks is your share of the searches that still happen, and the customers already in your database.

6Plans, repeat calls, and a list you keep

One-time calls do not compound. Maintenance and membership plans do, and so does a customer list that is yours from day one along with your reviews, your content and your data. The website itself becomes fully yours at month 6.

See what a full board is worth.

Territories lock the day somebody starts. A quick call tells you whether your trade in your area is still open, and what the engine would look like running against your board.

Everything a home service business needs to own its market, built, connected, and run under one roof.

Home Services SEO & Google Maps

Rankings for the searches that decide your market: emergency terms, replacement terms, and near me searches across every city you serve, plus the map pack, where the calls actually happen.

Google Local Services Ads

Google Verified placement above everything else on the page. Pay per lead, not per click, managed and disputed weekly so the budget only buys real homeowners.

Home Services PPC & paid social

Google Ads and Meta campaigns tuned to your trade's seasons, service area, and highest-margin work, pointed at the openings on your board rather than at whatever comes in.

A home services website built to convert

Fast, mobile-first, and engineered to book: click-to-call, instant scheduling, financing, and the proof that turns a comparison shopper into a booked estimate.

Review & reputation engine

Homeowners hire the company with the strongest review wall. Automated requests after every completed job keep yours growing on autopilot, in every city you serve.

Speed-to-lead & CRM follow-up

The first company to respond usually wins the job. Every lead gets an instant text, automated follow-up until it books, and a spot on your calendar.

Who this is built for

Built for the companies that already run trucks.

Our best-fit home service business

You run real crews and want predictable, owned growth.

Contractor Fast Lane is built for established home service companies doing roughly $500K to $10M and up per year: HVAC, roofing, plumbing, electrical, remodeling, pest control, and 25 industries in all. If you have the trucks, the crews, and the reputation, we build the home services marketing engine that takes you to the next level, and we lock your trade in your market so a competitor can never buy the same system.

Emergency and repair tradesHVAC, plumbing, electrical, restoration: trades where being found first is the whole game.

High-ticket replacement and remodelRoofing, solar, remodeling, windows: trades won on proof, reviews, and relentless follow-up.

Recurring service businessesPest control, lawn care, cleaning: trades built on route density, retention, and reviews.

One company per trade, per marketWe work with a single company per trade in each service area. Yours locks when you start.

The long game

Your home services engine gets stronger every month it runs.

A home service business compounds through its customers. The call you win this month becomes the plan next spring, the replacement in five years, and the neighbor who asks who you used. That is why early work keeps paying: every booked call adds to a base that never resets.

Launch Year 1 Year 3
The groundwork we lay here…
…is why it picks up steam here.
Illustrative shape, not a projection.

A bought lead is one call and one invoice. A customer you earned calls back, refers the neighbor and renews the plan, and nobody gets to bill you for that twice.

Early onWe build the engine and switch it on. You feel some of it right away. Most of it is foundation you will feel later.
As it maturesEvery month stacks on the last. Your rankings, reviews and repeat customers start feeding each other instead of resetting.
The long runGrowth that took real work to build is not easily taken away. Rented demand disappears the month you stop paying for it.

A note from the founder

Why we built this.

“I kept watching the same thing happen: a contractor doing five-star work, running circles around the shop down the street, and still losing to them. Not because the other guy was better. Because he had a system bringing him customers, and they didn't.

So we built the system. Then we packaged the whole thing, done for you, for local service businesses ready to scale. We keep your calendar full, you run the jobs, and it is all in your name, right down to the website becoming yours at month 6.

No contracts, no lock-ins. We earn it every month. And we only take one company per market, so if yours is still open, I'd love to meet you.”

Home Services marketing FAQs

The questions that come up every week.

What is home services marketing?
Home services marketing is everything that gets a service company found, called, and booked: local SEO and the Google map pack, Google Local Services Ads, paid search and paid social, a site built to book, reviews, and instant follow-up. What makes it different from other local marketing is the clock. Demand appears the moment something breaks, the homeowner calls two or three companies, and the first to answer usually keeps the job.
How much do home service leads cost?
Published benchmarks put the average lead from home services search ads at $90.92 and the average Local Services Ads lead near $53. Per-lead pricing is the easy part to compare and the wrong thing to optimise. The same LSA data puts the cost of an actual paying customer at $233, because fewer than half the leads you pay for ever reach the board.
How much should a home service business spend on marketing?
The usual answer is 5 to 10 percent of revenue, and it is a sanity check rather than a plan. Work it backwards. How many booked calls does the board need next month, and what does a booked customer cost you today? Published Local Services Ads benchmarks put that near $233. Multiply, compare it against what your trucks can physically run, and you have a budget instead of a guess.
Are Angi, Thumbtack and HomeAdvisor leads worth it?
They fill a hole this month, and they cost you the customer. Those platforms send one service request to several companies at the same time, so the fee buys you a foot race rather than a homeowner, and the relationship stays with the platform. Their price also floats with how many companies are bidding your zip codes, so it rises as your market gets busier. Fine as a stopgap. A bad foundation.
How do I get more service calls in the slow season?
You cannot buy demand that is not there. In a slow stretch the ad auction has less to sell and the lead sellers have less to send, so two things carry you: your share of the searches that still happen, and the customers already in your database. Both get built in the busy months, not the quiet ones. For the sharpest version of this problem, see HVAC marketing.
Why do we lose leads that already called us?
Usually because nobody picked up. Invoca reports 27 percent of calls to home services businesses go unanswered, and published Local Services Ads benchmarks show under half of paid leads becoming booked jobs. So close the leak first: every call tracked, after-hours calls caught, a text out in seconds, and follow-up that runs until the job books.
How do I get more customers on maintenance or membership plans?
Sell the plan on the visit, then market to the list it builds. Plans are the one part of a home service business with a floor under it, so the engine treats your customer database as a channel: renewal reminders, seasonal visits, and the repair a tech flagged last summer. Recurring trades live on this, and pest control marketing goes deeper on it.
What do I own, and how is this different from an agency?
You keep the customers. Every homeowner the engine books lands in your CRM with their history and their contact details, yours from day one along with your reviews, your content and your data. The website itself becomes fully yours at month 6. Month to month, 30 day out, no annual contract. An agency hands you back a login when you leave. Here there is nothing to hand back.
