Solar marketing & lead generation

Solar marketing that fills your calendar with signed installs.

Every rule change resets the pitch. Your position outlives every one of them.

Solar sells against a moving target. The homeowner credit ended with 2025, export rates keep getting rewritten, and every change resets the pitch. Solar marketing is what keeps surveys and installs on the board while the math underneath keeps moving.

In 2015 I started Four28 Marketing with one goal: give local businesses an unfair advantage in their market.

Eleven years and 250+ businesses later, one pattern kept jumping out. Home services was the one place I could run the same playbook and watch it actually work. Not a slide in a quarterly review, real jobs on a real calendar. I’d rather move the needle for a small business than a Fortune 500 any day.

So we took everything we had built over a decade and pointed all of it at one thing.

Why solar companies stay stuck

The installs are clean. The pipeline is a fight.

All four got harder the year the incentive math changed. Every one of them sits upstream of your closers, where it can be built.

Canvassing costs climb, close rates fall

Door-knocking built the solar industry, but every season the math gets worse. Rep turnover, burnout, and a cost per install that creeps up while conversion slides.

Shared leads five closers already called

Bought solar leads are the most recycled in home services, resold five ways and aged before you see them. You pay $30 to $150 to be the sixth voicemail on a homeowner's phone.

Homeowners do not trust solar by default

Years of inflated savings pitches trained homeowners to assume the worst. They search your name before they answer, and if your reviews are thin, the deal is dead before hello.

Stop buying appointments, revenue stops

Solar has no repeat customers. If purchased solar appointments are your only pipeline, your revenue has a kill switch, and it is not in your hand.

A residential solar crew setting roof-mount panels on a home
The installer we build this for

Built for the installer who stayed.

You were here before the incentive rush and you are still here after it. You run real crews, you finish what you sell, and your reviews say so. The missing piece is a pipeline that keeps producing no matter what the rules do next.

Real reviews

What the owners actually say.

The same engine has scaled 250+ local service businesses across 25 industries, and high-ticket trades like solar are where owning your pipeline pays off most. Every review below is a real owner. See the full case studies on our results page.

“I've worked with plenty of agencies that promise the world and deliver a folder full of vanity metrics. Contractor Fast Lane is different. They feel like an extension of our team and take the time to understand our industry instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all template. Since partnering with them we have seen a significant increase in qualified leads and a real boost in ROI, and our cost per acquisition has dropped.”

I was with a different company for TWELVE years whom I trusted, only to find out he had not been performing yet was charging us anyway. We didn't have our log-ins, never got reports, and had no idea what we were missing.. until my wife found these guys. Daniel and the team have made my business shine. They are a God send.

My husband and I run a local business, and when it came time to grow we knew we needed experts. Contractor Fast Lane came highly recommended from a friend who raved about them. They are crazy good at taking complicated, nerdy stuff and making it make sense, and they were always communicating so I never once wondered what was going on. Their SEO work for our market has been a game changer, and we have seen a tangible increase in our lead volume.

It was clear they had done extensive research on our industry before we ever sat down. We spoke to other agencies, but there was a distinct difference. What really stood out was their proven track record getting clients top rankings on Google. We needed a site built the right way, optimized and built to convert, and that is exactly what they delivered. Honestly, it has been one of the best investments we have made for our business.

The solar lead trap

Stop renting solar leads.
Own the system that makes them.

Buying solar leads and appointments is renting. The day you stop paying, the pipeline goes dark and you start from zero. Owning your solar lead generation is an asset that compounds and stays yours.

Renting leads

Pay forever. Own nothing.

Every install costs the same or more than the last. Stop paying and the appointments vanish overnight.

Owning the engine

Build once. Compound for years.

Your cost per install falls as the asset grows, and the website itself is fully yours at month 6.

Your solar growth engine

Four systems.
One solar engine.

Most solar marketing leans on one channel and hopes. We connect four so they feed each other, and feed your crews a steady flow of booked solar installs, even when utility rates and net metering rules shuffle demand.

Where solar deals are won and lost

Nothing about selling solar holds still. Your pipeline can.

The credit is gone, export rates are being rewritten, and homeowners have been burned by people who knocked on their door. Your engine gets built for that market, not handed down from a trade where the phone rings on its own.

1Copy that keeps up with the rules

The homeowner credit ended with 2025 and export rates keep changing state by state. Every page, ad and follow-up script gets rewritten alongside them, so nobody on your team is quoting last year's math to this year's homeowner.

2Built for a homeowner who got burned

This trade has a trust problem it did not all earn, and the companies that folded mid-install made it worse. We build the proof that answers it before you say a word: review depth, real local jobs, named crews, permits pulled.

3Financing is the offer, not the panels

Cash, loan, lease and PPA are four different sales to four different buyers. Each one gets its own page, its own qualifying questions and its own follow-up, so a payment shopper never lands on a cash-buyer pitch and drops off.

4The utility bill is the buying trigger

Nobody wakes up wanting panels. They wake up to a bill. We build around rate hikes, the summer spike and what the local utility just filed, so you reach the homeowner in the week that number actually stings.

5Be the first quote, not the fourth

Buy a lead and three competitors bought the same homeowner. An owned engine reaches them before they start filling out comparison forms, so you set the number the others have to beat instead of shaving margin off theirs.

6Storage sold on math, not on blackouts

Batteries move on export rates and evening peak pricing now, so the pages and calculators we build talk in rate windows and self-consumption. Storage goes in front of the homeowner during design, because attach rate is decided there.

Solar SEO & Google Maps

We get your solar company ranking for the searches that matter, solar panel installation, solar companies near me, and solar cost questions across your service area, plus the Google map pack where the calls come from.

Google Local Services Ads

The Google Verified badge that puts your solar company at the very top of the results, pay-per-lead placement built for the homeowner who is ready to go solar right now.

Solar PPC & paid social

Solar advertising tuned to financing offers and utility-rate pain, Google Ads plus Facebook and Instagram campaigns aimed at the weeks your install crews have room.

A solar website built to convert

A fast, mobile-first solar website engineered to turn skeptical visitors into booked site surveys, with the trust signals, real reviews, and savings-focused calls to action homeowners need before they will talk to a solar company.

Review & reputation engine

Automated review requests that build a wall of five-star Google reviews, the antidote to solar scam fatigue and the biggest reason a homeowner picks your proposal over the two others on the kitchen table.

Speed-to-lead & CRM follow-up

Every solar lead gets an instant text and a spot on your calendar, then automated follow-up through the site survey, proposal, and financing decision, because the first company to call wins the appointment.

Who this is built for

Built for installers who plan to still be here.

Our best-fit installer

You run real install crews and want predictable, owned growth.

Contractor Fast Lane is built for established solar companies doing roughly $500K to $10M and up per year that have outgrown door-knocking and bought appointment lists. If you already have the crews and the reputation, we build the solar marketing engine that takes you to the next level, and lock your market so a competitor cannot buy the same system.

Residential solar installsHomeowners who searched, compared, and want a local installer they can trust.

Solar & roofing combo companiesReroof plus solar packages that raise the ticket on every single job.

Battery & storage upsellStorage, backup power, and EV charging attached to every proposal.

One solar company per marketWe work with a single solar company per service area. Yours locks when you start.

The long game

Your solar engine gets stronger every month it runs.

Policy resets the pitch every year or two. It never resets your position. The pages ranking in your county, the review history, the customer list you built under the old rules: all of it carries into the new ones. The early work is the work that keeps paying.

Launch Year 1 Year 3
The groundwork we lay here…
…is why it picks up steam here.
Illustrative shape, not a projection.

Venture money buys your county for two quarters, then leaves. The installers still standing in ten years owned their position before the money ever showed up.

Early onWe build the engine and switch it on. You feel some of it right away. Most of it is foundation you will feel later.
As it maturesEvery month stacks on the last. Your rankings, reviews and repeat customers start feeding each other instead of resetting.
The long runGrowth that took real work to build is not easily taken away. Rented demand disappears the month you stop paying for it.
Daniel Segalo, founder of Contractor Fast Lane
A note from the founder

Why we built this.

“I kept watching the same thing happen: a solar installer doing five-star work, running circles around the shop down the street, and still losing to them. Not because the other guy was better. Because he had a system bringing him customers, and they didn't.

So we built the system. Then we packaged the whole thing, done for you, for local service businesses ready to scale. We keep your calendar full, you run the jobs, and it is all in your name, right down to the website becoming yours at month 6.

No contracts, no lock-ins. We earn it every month. And we only take one company per market, so if yours is still open, I'd love to meet you.”

The machine you own

Your solar engine, running live.

A sample view of the system you would be running: appointments, pipeline, and the market you have locked, all in one place with nothing held hostage.

  • Booked jobs land straight in your pipeline, not a shared marketplace.
  • Every lead is exclusive to you and never resold to a competitor.
  • The system compounds every month instead of resetting when you stop paying.
  • Nothing held hostage: the website is fully yours at month 6, an asset on your books.

Solar marketing FAQs

What solar owners actually ask us.

How much do solar leads cost?
There is no honest national number, and anyone quoting you one is selling leads. Shared solar leads are among the most resold in home services, so the invoice price says little about what a customer really costs. Run on cost per signed install instead: marketing spend divided by contracts. Build the demand yourself and that number bends down as the asset grows. Rent it and it tracks the highest bidder in your county.
How much should a solar company spend on marketing?
Published guidance runs anywhere from 3% to 12% of revenue, which should tell you the ratio is not the answer. What the money buys is. A lead budget is gone the month the card stops working. Money put into ranked pages, review depth and a site in your own name is still there afterwards. Pick the cost per signed install your margins can carry and work backwards.
How do I get solar customers without door knocking?
Be there the week the bill lands, before a canvasser reaches the porch. Residential power averaged 18.44 cents per kWh in May 2026, up from 17.37 a year earlier, and every increase like that sends homeowners to search. Own those searches and the map pack, back them with review depth, let people book a survey without calling, and canvassing turns into a choice.
What do we sell on now that the federal solar tax credit is gone?
The IRS is blunt about it: the residential clean energy credit is not available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. So the pitch moves off a one-time credit and onto the bill, the financing structure, and what the utility charges next year. We rewrite your pages, ads and scripts around the rules as they actually stand, instead of leaving a dead number on your site.
Are the solar leads exclusive, or am I the fifth call?
Exclusive. Whatever the engine brings in belongs to you and nobody else, and it lands straight on your board. Nothing gets resold, aged, or scored and passed down a list. We also work with one solar company per service area, so nobody else running this system is quoting the same house. In solar that matters double: one homeowner form routinely gets sold four ways before anybody calls back.
How do I market solar batteries and storage?
On the math, not on blackouts. Storage sells when a homeowner can see what the utility pays for exported power against what it charges at 7pm, so we build the pages, calculators and ad copy around rate windows and self-consumption. We also put storage in the conversation during design rather than at proposal, because attach rate is decided long before anyone signs anything.
Do you do commercial solar lead generation too?
Yes, as a second lane. Commercial arrays run on a longer cycle, a committee and a different search vocabulary, so the campaigns, landing pages and intake stay separate from residential instead of pointing one funnel at both. If commercial is the bulk of your revenue rather than a side lane, say so up front, because the build changes. Book a discovery call →
What do I actually own, and what happens if we part ways?
Your data, your reviews, your content and your customers are yours from day one, and the website itself becomes fully yours at month 6. Ad accounts and your Google profile sit in your name the whole time. Walk away and the pages keep ranking, the reviews keep sitting there, and the list is still yours, because none of it was ever ours. See how ownership works →
