Contractor marketing & lead generation

Contractor marketing that books real jobs, from an engine you own.

Most contractor marketing is rented: agency retainers, shared leads, software that bills forever. We build the complete growth engine, contractor SEO, Google Local Services Ads, PPC, website, reviews, and speed-to-lead, then run it for you and hand you the keys by month 6. No more renting shared leads.

★★★★★ 4.8 rating on Google

You can rent your next job. Or own the thing that keeps making them.

Every contractor rents something: a retainer, a lead fee, an ad account in somebody else's name. Stop paying and the phone stops with it. Contractor marketing only becomes an asset when the rankings, the reviews and the pipeline sit on your books.

We build the whole engine, run it, and hand you the keys. One company per trade, per market, month to month with a 30-day out. No shared leads that three competitors bought the same morning.

Founder, Contractor Fast Lane

In 2015 I started Four28 Marketing with one goal: give local businesses an unfair advantage in their market.

Eleven years and 250+ businesses later, one pattern kept jumping out. Home services was the one place I could run the same playbook and watch it actually work. Not a slide in a quarterly review, real jobs on a real calendar. I’d rather move the needle for a small business than a Fortune 500 any day.

So we took everything we had built over a decade and pointed all of it at one thing.

Why contractor companies stay stuck

Great work. Real crews. So why the dry spells?

Every trade we work in has a version of this list. It is not a hard-work problem. It is a system problem, and it is fixable.

Retainers with nothing to show

You have paid an agency $3K to $5K a month for a year and cannot point to one job it booked. The reports talk about impressions. Your schedule tells the truth.

Shared leads resold to competitors

The marketplaces sell the same homeowner to four or five contractors at once. You pay $30 to $150 to race everyone else to the door, and the price war eats whatever margin survives.

Invisible where homeowners look first

When someone searches for your trade in your town, franchises and consolidators own page one and the map pack. If you are not there, the job was never yours to lose.

Five vendors, zero accountability

A website guy, an ads guy, a reviews tool, a CRM nobody set up. Each owns a piece of you, none of them talk, and nobody answers for the only number that matters: booked jobs.

Real reviews

Businesses that stopped chasing
and started choosing jobs.

The same engine has scaled 250+ local service businesses across 25 industries, and the contractor trades are the ones we know cold. Every review below is a real owner. See the full case studies on our results page.

“I've worked with plenty of agencies that promise the world and deliver a folder full of vanity metrics. Contractor Fast Lane is different. They feel like an extension of our team and take the time to understand our industry instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all template. Since partnering with them we have seen a significant increase in qualified leads and a real boost in ROI, and our cost per acquisition has dropped.”

I was with a different company for TWELVE years whom I trusted, only to find out he had not been performing yet was charging us anyway. We didn't have our log-ins, never got reports, and had no idea what we were missing.. until my wife found these guys. Daniel and the team have made my business shine. They are a God send.

My husband and I run a local business, and when it came time to grow we knew we needed experts. Contractor Fast Lane came highly recommended from a friend who raved about them. They are crazy good at taking complicated, nerdy stuff and making it make sense, and they were always communicating so I never once wondered what was going on. Their SEO work for our market has been a game changer, and we have seen a tangible increase in our lead volume.

It was clear they had done extensive research on our industry before we ever sat down. We spoke to other agencies, but there was a distinct difference. What really stood out was their proven track record getting clients top rankings on Google. We needed a site built the right way, optimized and built to convert, and that is exactly what they delivered. Honestly, it has been one of the best investments we have made for our business.

The contractor lead trap

Stop renting contractor leads.
Own the system that makes them.

Retainers and lead fees are rent. The day the checks stop, everything stops. Owning your contractor marketing turns the same spend into an asset that compounds and stays yours.

Renting leads

Pay forever. Own nothing.

Every job costs the same or more than the last, and the day you stop paying, the phone goes quiet.

Owning the engine

Build once. Compound for years.

Your cost per booked job falls as the asset grows, and the website itself is fully yours at month 6.

What contractor demand costs in 2026

Published figures for what it costs to buy a contractor lead, channel by channel. Read the second row first. What you pay for demand is set mostly by which trade you are in, and only after that by how well you buy it.

Google search ads$166Median cost per lead for the Construction & Contractors category, against a $91 average across all 16 home service categories measured (LocaliQ, 3,211 US campaigns).
The spread by trade$45 to $228Cheapest category to priciest in that same study, pools and spas up to roofing and gutters. Five to one, before your market density is even counted.
Local Services Ads$54Average charged lead on multi-trade contractor accounts in February 2026, across 888 contractors, 126,650 leads and $6.72M of tracked LSA spend.
LSA cost per booked jobAbout $123Those leads booked at 43.9%, so a booked job runs roughly $123 in lead fees before anyone has written a quote. Arithmetic, not a survey.
Shared marketplace leads$15 to $100Per Angi lead, with HomeAdvisor around $300 a year plus $30 to $60 per lead on top, and several contractors sent the same homeowner.
Here is the part the pricing pages leave out. Every number above is a rental rate, and rental rates rise as more contractors bid into the same zip codes. The engine we build points the same budget at rankings, reviews and a booking system that keep working after the invoice clears. Your data, content, reviews and customers are yours from day one, and the website itself is fully yours at month 6.

Local Services Ads cost per lead and book rate from SearchLight Digital's LSA benchmark (888 contractors, 1,774 campaigns, 126,650 leads, $6.72M in spend, February 2026). What is true in every trade we run

Your trade is different. What decides the winner is not.

We run this in 25 industries. The seasons change, the tickets change, the search terms change. Six things do not, and every one of them is something you are either paying rent on or building equity in.

1Rented demand never gets cheaper

A lead fee is priced off what your competitors will pay, so it climbs every year your market gets busier. Rankings and reviews move the other way: the work you paid for last year is still booking jobs this year.

2One homeowner, four contractors bidding

The marketplaces sell the same raised hand to three or four companies, so you meet your competition in the driveway and the job goes to whoever cut their price the most. A lead your own engine makes arrives once, to you, at your price.

3Speed decides it before quality does

Across 15,000 tracked leads, the odds of qualifying one fell 21-fold between a five-minute reply and a thirty-minute reply. Yours get an instant text and a booked slot while the competition is still checking voicemail.

4Reviews and map rank compound

97% of consumers read reviews before hiring locally, and 47% skip a business with fewer than 20 of them. Review count and map position are the two things a competitor cannot buy overnight, and both get harder to catch every month.

5Project work has no recurring floor

Revenue resets to zero every January. The builder who fed you all last year does not send a warning email before he stops. An engine producing its own work is the closest a project business gets to a floor under the schedule.

6Locked market, no locked-in contract

One company per trade in each market, so we are never quietly working for the shop across town. Month to month with a 30-day out. Your customers, data, content and reviews are yours from day one, and the website itself at month 6.

Is your trade still open in your market?

We run one company per trade in each market. A 15-minute discovery call is how you find out whether yours is still open and whether the fit is there.

Our best-fit contracting business

You run real crews and want predictable, owned growth.

Contractor Fast Lane is built for established contractors doing roughly $500K to $10M and up per year that have outgrown word-of-mouth and referrals. Roofers, HVAC, plumbers, electricians, remodelers, 25 industries in all. If you already have the crews and the reputation, we build the contractor marketing engine that takes you to the next level. And we lock your trade in your market, so a competitor can never buy the same system.

Established residential tradesRoofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more, with real crews and a reputation worth amplifying.

High-ticket project contractorsRemodelers, builders, and exterior pros who live and die by a steady flow of qualified estimates.

Commercial and service-mix companiesContractors adding recurring commercial accounts that smooth out the residential swings.

One company per trade, per marketWe work with a single company per trade in each service area. Yours locks when you start.

The long game

Your contractor engine gets stronger every month it runs.

Ask what your company is worth without its marketing. A buyer pays for a pipeline that keeps producing after the owner leaves the room, not for a lead account in somebody else's name. Every month this runs, more of the demand in your market sits on your side of the ledger.

Launch Year 1 Year 3
The groundwork we lay here…
…is why it picks up steam here.
Illustrative shape, not a projection.

Anyone can buy a busy month. What keeps crews booked through a slow one is an engine with your name on the deed.

Early onWe build the engine and switch it on. You feel some of it right away. Most of it is foundation you will feel later.
As it maturesEvery month stacks on the last. Your rankings, reviews and repeat customers start feeding each other instead of resetting.
The long runGrowth that took real work to build is not easily taken away. Rented demand disappears the month you stop paying for it.
Daniel Segalo, founder of Contractor Fast Lane
A note from the founder

Why we built this.

“I kept watching the same thing happen: a contractor doing five-star work, running circles around the shop down the street, and still losing to them. Not because the other guy was better. Because he had a system bringing him customers, and they didn't.

So we built the system. Then we packaged the whole thing, done for you, for local service businesses ready to scale. We keep your calendar full, you run the jobs, and it is all in your name, right down to the website becoming yours at month 6.

No contracts, no lock-ins. We earn it every month. And we only take one company per market, so if yours is still open, I'd love to meet you.”

Contractor marketing FAQs

What owners ask us before they sign.

How much does contractor marketing cost?
Depends what you are buying. Paid search averages $166 per lead for the general contractor category, Local Services Ads run about $54 per charged lead, and shared marketplace leads go for $15 to $100 with several contractors sold the same homeowner. Retainers sit on top. What matters is what survives the spend: rented, it is gone the month you stop paying. Full lead math is in contractor lead generation.
How much should a contractor spend on marketing?
Most established contractors land between 5% and 10% of revenue, more in a deliberate growth year. Run it forward first: at $166 per lead, $10,000 a month buys roughly 60 raised hands, and your close rate decides what a signed job costs. Rented, next year's 60 cost more. Owned, the same money also builds rankings and reviews you keep.
Should I hire a contractor marketing agency or own my own engine?
They are two different products. An agency rents you services and keeps the ad accounts, the data and the leverage, so the work stops the month the retainer does. Owning means the rankings, the site, the reviews and the automations accrue to your company instead. We run it like an agency would, then sign it over: your data and reviews are yours from day one, the website itself at month 6. See how the handover works →
Does this work for general contractors, or only the specialty trades?
Both, and general contractors often need it more. A specialty trade gets called back by the same house for years. A GC lives on projects that end, referrals that go quiet with no warning, and bids where three other names are on the counter. Owned search and a review wall put you in front of the homeowner before the bidding starts. If most of your work is whole-home renovation, start with remodeling marketing.
Do you work with my trade, and what if I run more than one?
Almost certainly. The same engine has scaled 250+ businesses across 25 industries, from roofing and HVAC to landscaping and pest control. Multi-trade operators are normal here: one engine, campaigns tuned per service line, exclusivity locked trade by trade in your market. Every trade also has its own page with its own numbers on it, like HVAC marketing. The grid below lists all of them.
How do contractors get more jobs without buying leads?
Be the company the homeowner finds and trusts first, then answer before anyone else does. That means owning the map pack and the searches in your area, a review wall that wins the comparison, a site that books on the spot, and follow-up measured in seconds. Across 15,000 tracked leads, the odds of qualifying one fell 21-fold between a five-minute reply and a thirty-minute one.
How long does contractor marketing take to work?
Paid channels move first. Local Services Ads and PPC can produce calls inside the first few weeks, and the full system goes live in weeks rather than months. Search rankings and reviews build over the months after that, and that is the half that keeps producing later. We will not put a date on results, because nobody honest can. What we will do is show you the order things come online.
What do I actually own, and what happens if we part ways?
Your customers, your data, your content, your funnels and your reviews are yours from day one, and the website itself becomes fully yours at month 6. It is month to month with a 30-day out, so nothing is held hostage. If you leave, you leave with the asset, not a login you have to hand back. Book a 15-minute discovery call →
